In this episode of the Woman at the Well Ministries podcast, join Kim Miller and Erika Klose in a “conversation as we walk with Jesus.” In today’s “conversation” we share on the topic of developing spiritual habits that lead to a deeper relationship with Christ. Today, we talk about prayer and why it is important.
Mentioned in this Episode
Why is prayer important?
Because God says so
1 Thessalonians 5:17 - Pray without ceasing.
1 Timothy 2:1-4 - I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;
For relationship with Jesus
1 Timothy 2:5 - For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;
For forgiveness
James 5:16 - Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
For answers to things we do not know
Jeremiah 33:3 - Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.
For our requests
Philippians 4:6 - Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
John 15:7 - If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.
Mark 11:24 - Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them
Luke 11:9 - And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.
For help
Romans 8:26 - Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.
Psalms 34:17 - The righteous cry, and the LORD heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles.
For help in the moment
Matthew 26:41 - Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.

Come along on our journey through the scriptures as we focus on the fundamental truth that we must be born again. “Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God,” (John 3:3). You cannot hope to spend eternity in heaven or defeat the devil unless you are born-again into the family of God through believing in Jesus (John 3:16). The devil wants your soul and will do anything he can to distract you from the truth that you need Jesus. Join Kim in this podcast of Woman at the Well Ministries as she plainly explains the need for salvation and how one can obtain it. For those who are not saved, this will be the most important information you will ever hear. For those of you who are saved and know Jesus as your personal Savior, it will help you tell others how they, too, can be born-again.

Where the presence of God is there is provision. In I Kings 17 we see a beautiful account of how God provides, sustains, leads, and guides. I Kings opens with Elijah, a prophet of God, following the commandments of the Lord and going exactly where God tells him to go. There is a drought and God is telling Elijah where to go to have the water he needs. God personally feeds Elijah using the ravens He has instructed to bring Elijah bread and meat in the morning and bread and meat in the evening. Elijah’s obedience to God allowed him to be where he needed to be to receive the blessings of God. Are you where you are supposed to be? Are you prepared to receive the blessings of God? Join us in this podcast of Woman at the Well Ministries as Kim takes us on a journey through the scriptures revealing the goodness of God.

Quotable Kim-isms
“Elijah hears from God, turns, and obeys what God asks Him to do.”
“Doesn’t it make sense that we should feast on the Word of God in the morning and the evening, in the same way Elijah was provided for in the morning and the evening?”
“When we come to Jesus, we need to be emptied of the world.”
“Can those around you bank on the fact that you’re going to follow and obey God?”
“Contagious obedience is on full display in the account of Elijah and the widow.”
“Our lives are meant for more than just ourselves.”
“When multiple obedient people come together, amazing things happen!”
“When He directs you, He will provide for you!”
“When we follow Him, that’s when we live in the abundance and the blessing.”
“Faith prevailed. Obedience created abundance. Blessings flowed and the presence of God provided.”

So many times in life we find ourselves in difficult situations. Sometimes they are a result of our doing or not doing but other times they come into our lives through no fault of our own. Regardless, they are uncomfortable, detrimental, and in some instances permanently life altering. For the unbeliever, there is little they can do and they have little recourse. But for the believer, for the child of God, they are never left to fight this battle alone. There is always someone bigger than us fighting our battles. There is always hope because the one who fights our battles is the Lord. Join us in this podcast of Woman at the Well Ministries as Kim takes us on a journey through the scriptures revealing the truth about the fourth man in the fire.
